Electricity Concept Map

Electricity
I. Electric Circuits
A. Reading
B. Math
C. powered by conductive  wires
1. resisters and inductors
D. Measured by voltage
This can be used to move large pieces of metal. For example, at a scrap yard, the cars will be moved by a giant magnet. When the circuit is open, the magnet will not work. When the circuit is closed, the magnet is working.
A. Electric currents
B. Magnet powered
1. Speakers, motors, generators
III. Wind electricity
The windmills produce power by the spinning of the blades. This is also a renewable resource and does not cause pollution. This does not use our fossil fuels and takes up little space.
A. Wind powered
1. Windmill
B. Limited Pollution
Hydroelectricity is power run from water. The water goes through a stream, through the water turbine, making the turbine spin, and back into the stream. The spinning turbine causes electricity.
A. Water powered
1. Turbine
B. Environmental friendly
By using water from nature, this limits pollution. There are no harsh chemicals released into nature. There are no oils burned in the process.
V. Static Electricity
Have you ever slid across the carpet and touched someone? Did you shock them? This is called static electricity. When you slid on the carpet, all of the charges built up. When you touched the other person, you released the charges onto them.
A. Electric charge build up
B. Have to be neutralized
