The intro video allowed us to use digital tools to
create a video about ourselves. I liked being able to introduce my self
in an environment that really shows who I am. I could use this in the
classroom for the children to give speeches or reports in a new way.
Concept Map

By using the concept map, I was able to plan and put down in a fun way my knowledge on a topic. I
could use this in a classroom by making concept maps for different
topics. I could also allow the students to make their own concept map
for a presentation. I really enjoyed this activity.
Movie

activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working
strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources
By
making this movie, each student was able to put their own style and
personality into their piece. I could use this in the classroom by
making a movie of pictures of a field trip or other events. I enjoyed
how simple this activity was.
Web page

communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve
student learning
The web page is a fun and creative way to share information with the
community. I could use this in the classroom to keep my students and
parents up to date on what is going on in my classroom. I really enjoyed
this, and I will definitely use this in my classroom.
Voki
1d. model collaborative knowledge construction by
engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in
face-to-face and virtual environments
The Voki allowed me to use a virtual person to interact with the audience. I would use this in the classroom to switch up my everyday routine. Instead of me lecturing them, the students could have a virtual panda bear talking to them. I might use this in my classroom.

Gaming for boys response
The statistics of office refferals for boys vs. girls is astounding. Boys are 3 times more likely to get suspended or expelled. Is this because they are bored? We expect the boys to be able to sit down and do their work. This is not how they learn. Boys want to play video games. We should not try to completely change them. This video suggests that we should meet them in the middle. We should invent games to get them more engages. We should make educational games for them to play and actually learn.

SKYPE IN THE CLASSROOM
This website allows educators/experts talk to and learn from other educators/experts. Teachers can go and search the topic that they are studying and allow the students to talk to an expert. It is very hard to get a guest speaker or have a field trip approved in schools. This will talk away that hassle. I give this website a 9 out of 10.

I give this website a 10! It combines my two favorite things: powerpoint and inspiration. It brings powerpoint to a new extreme. We can have a 3D presentaion. It is free and once you get the hang of it, pretty easy.

Archive
Now days gamers only think of the newest and greatest game. They do not think that games had to start somewhere. Before xbox there was Atari. If the kids saw that, they would be astounded. The graphics were not near as good. A University in Texas is trying to change this. They are creating an archive for video games. Students will be able to see the growth from a floppy disk to DDR.
I could use this in my classroom to show advancement in technology. Archives are a great learning tool. We can never truly understand the present ,until we understand where we came from.

Cyberbullying
Cyber-bullying has become a major problem in schools today,
People feel more bold attacking people using technology.
This has caused deaths and depression for many teens recently.
People do not realize that things online will stay there forever.
I will use this article to keep track of cyber bullying in my classroom.
I do not want for the students to use any inappropriate behavior.
Sometime online threats can be a joke, but sometimes it can be much more.
Flipped Classroom
This is how I would like to run my classroom. The teachers do not spend the class period lecturing. The teachers upload the lecture online or send it home with the students. The class time is spent helping the students that are having trouble understanding. During class periods, I can listen to a lecture and it seems so simple. When I get home to do my homework, I have no clue how to do it. This could really eliminate this problem.

World Peace Game
I loved this video! Many children do not know of the problems that are occurring in the world around them. We try to keep our children sheltered. This teacher does the complete opposite. He makes the children aware of the issues going on, and includes them into it. He gives them the option to try to solve the problems. The children are going to be the ones to deal with it eventually. Why not introduce them to it now? This was very inspiring.

This can be used to move large pieces of metal. For example, at a scrap yard, the cars will be moved by a giant magnet. When the circuit is open, the magnet will not work. When the circuit is closed, the magnet is working.

The windmills produce power by the spinning of the blades. This is also a renewable resource and does not cause pollution. This does not use our fossil fuels and takes up little space.

Response to "Digital Citizenship"
There are nine themes to digital citizenship. The first, all
people should have access to technology. The second, people should be taught
how to be buyers and sellers. The third, making appropriate communication
digitally. Fourth, people should be taught how to use technology. Fifth, people
should be taught the proper etiquette online. Sixth, there are laws and responsibilities
when using the internet. Seventh, when using technology, we should know our
rights. Eighth, users should be aware of the awareness of the dangers
associated with technology. Lastly, we need to know how to protect our
technology.
I would use this to explain to my students the correct ways to use technology. People need to be aware of how to protect their technology. There are many viruses that can destroy computers. My students need to be aware of how to get the most out of technology. There is so much that can be done, if you just know how to, I would like for my students to know how to be safe.
Response to 'Safe' Social Networking Tailored for K-12 Schools
In this article, the teachers were not blocking social
networking but embracing it. Some teachers were using it to allow the students
to talk to historical figure. There are many websites that can be fun and educational.
The teachers monitor what the students are doing and there are many scanners.
Some scanners protect from foul language and inappropriate images.
I could use ePals to finish lessons that we did not have
enough time for in class. Since I have become a student at USM I have been on
Blackboard more than I have been in class. This provides me with powerpoints,
assessments, and assignments. I can use this website to help the children with
each lesson. I enjoy having notes and powerpoints accessible to me on the
internet. These websites are more focused on education and not about
socializing.
Children's Internet Protection Act
The Children’s Internet Protection Act is used to monitor
what students see and do on the internet.
The school must filter the internet access. This limits the websites
that can be used on the computer. Obscene pictures and pages cannot be
accessed. The filtering can be taken off by an authorized user.
This will be very important to use in my classroom. I want
my classroom to be a safe learning environment. There are so many inappropriate
things that can be seen online. I do not want to be held liable for anything inappropriate
that is seen in my class. I will teach my students the safe way to use the
internet. There are many learning opportunities with the internet, if we can
use it the correct way.
Digital Badges
This article was about the use of
digital badges. It is sponsored by Mozilla. The badges can range from tests
taken to skills that you have. Many employers could look up job applicants online.
It is like a college transcript on steroids. It still offers grades, but if
offers so much more.
I could use this in the classroom
for parents and administration. The parents could look up how their child is
doing in class and track the grades or achievements. This would be a good way
of keeping the parents in the loop.
I could also use this for my
administration to check on my students and my teaching. The principal could
keep track of what I am teaching and how my students are doing. This could also
be used by higher grade teachers. If I have a student in fourth grade, I could
look to see the badges that were earned in third grade to see what level I
should be working on.

The virtues of Blogging
Reading and writing blogs can help you stay up to date on what is going on. I never really thought about writing a blog, but I read them quite often. I am pregnant and I am constantly reading blogs to help me stay on track and get answers. Instead of spending a lot of money on books and journals, I can find information for free online. I have to be careful what I read, because not everything is scholarly. This article speaks highly of blogging and internet in his life.
Gamification
I have used gamification technique before, I just did not know what it was called. We have used it from elementary school to college. I will definitely use this in my future classrooms. There are many benefits to using gamification.
This improves social skills, because they have to work together. This shows the kids the right way to be competitive. We can make them actually want to learn.
In elementary school we always had the gold stars. If we had so many gold stars, we could have a pizza party. This was mostly to try to control our behavior.
In my Algebra class in junior high,we used this in a slightly different way. Whenever we would get an A on a test we would earn points. We could then cash in our points for rewards (little toys or a free homework pass). We were so competitive to always get the most points. This made us want to do better on our tests.

Teaching web literacy in schools
When I was in high school, we rarely were allowed to use the internet. If we had to do research, we would have to go in the library for a "computer day". The day was rarely used actually doing research, but mostly filled with us trying to unblock facebook. We were never taught how to use the computers, but the majority of us knew how thanks to youtube, facebook, myspace, and email. We were always told never to use wiki, but we were never told why. Now that I am in college, I am trying to figure out how to find credible sources.
By teaching students how to use computers we are expanding their capabilities. Common core is challenging the current education program. It is now requiring students to make sure each source is credible, use information without plagiarizing, and support research. By requiring the students to prove how each source is credible and supporting research, this will limit the amount of false information that is being used. By using the information without plagiarizing, this makes the students really understand the information that they are using.
